The three shadows stepped out from behind trees and waded through brush into the dim edge of the campfire's light. Each stood side by side. The largest of the three laid a spear across his shoulder, close to matching his height. The shortest and stoutest of the three hid behind the others grasping a bloodied mouth. The slant-walking one took the center and put his foot forwards the furthest. All eyes pointed towards him. Jorgen took an interest in his clothes, loose flowing robes, something like the wear he saw other masters and students of various dojos throw on. Carrie thought his two snaggly fangs looked rather silly- A bit like Ruach’s teeth. Tracker honed in on his left leg, wrapped in dried bloody bandages, it was stiff. Myer saw him thump his chest, forcing out a cough and words.
“Ak-Hem-! Now how did you know- Oh nevermind, surrender or die!”
The three Vampires stepped apart. The slant-walking one took a slanted step forwards, raising fighting hands and making a rude gesture. The large one let his spear fall into action off his shoulder, a glistening point aimed at the group, closing in with every slow step. The small one struggled to reach into a pocket, pulling out a small dagger. It was well made, ornate designs pasted across the handle, glistening like gold in the fire’s light.
Tracker locked eyes with the slant-walking Vampire, shouting to the crowd behind him, “Alright, you four stick together and run! Let me do my job!”
Myer was quick to obey (Before any command had even been given), vaulting over dark brush into a darker forest leaving nothing but a shout, “Oh my goodness gracious he has a knife!”
He heard only one pair of feet, Tracker saw Jorgen and Ruach in his peripheral, “He has the right idea, follow!”
The small Vampire with the knife approached the two statues. He shuffled his knife into a reverse grip and made wide graceless slices in the air. Jorgen walked up to him, circled him once, and departed for Tracker's side. The Vampire nodded and scrambled into the dark, chasing the trail of trampled twigs Myer left behind.
Carrie sidestepped to Ruach, pushing him and yelling with a certain softness, “Go give chase! I’ll handle things here!”
He ran. Carrie brandished her own weapon, mimicking the spear directed at her.
